About TimberWest
TimberWest is uniquely positioned as Western Canada’s largest private timber and land management company. TimberWest is privately owned by two leading Canadian pension funds, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation ("bcIMC") and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board ("PSP Investments").
TimberWest owns approximately 327,678 hectares / 809,973 acres of private land on Vancouver Island and meets all Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®) requirements in the management of those lands.
The Company runs fully contracted harvesting operations and leads the coastal industry in the growing and harvesting of second-growth timber. About 85% of TimberWest’s annual private land logging is done in second growth Douglas Fir and Hemlock stands. TimberWest also owns renewable Crown harvest rights to 0.7 million m3 of logs per year.
TimberWest seeks out the best and highest use of its lands, identifying strategies for both sustainable forest management and real estate. The Company’s land management priorities include unlocking opportunities for conservation and preservation of special lands, using landholdings in ways that help communities achieve their goals, and ensuring that only high quality, conservation-minded developments occur on TimberWest lands.
