Partnerships

TimberWest works with over two dozen environmental organizations to look after not only the trees, but also the other environmental values the forest supports. Recent conservation initiatives have included land transfers, fisheries enhancement, hatchery operations and provision of wildlife habitat.

TimberWest Partnerships:

Pacific Salmon Foundation: TimberWest supports essential funding for stream projects to enhance fish habitat

First Nations – Cowichan Tribes: Khowutzun Forest Services provides silviculture and firefighting services to TimberWest

Vancouver Island Marmot Recovery Foundation: Located at Mount Washington, the marmot breeding centre raises and releases marmot offspring to alpine habitat, including Green Mountain near TimberWest’s land at Nanaimo Lakes

Nature Trust of BC: A riparian zone covenant was established to protect fish habitat along the Englishman River

Ducks Unlimited Canada: Management of wetland areas near Black Creek enhances habitat for ducks and fish
