Our First Nations partners

At TimberWest, we are committed to recognizing and respecting the rights of Indigenous Peoples. Our goal is to be considered a respectful, trustworthy neighbour and to foster business relationships with First Nations where opportunities exist and align with TimberWest’s values and operational capabilities in British Columbia.

“We highly respect and value our relationships with First Nations across Vancouver Island and the BC Coast. Working together, we have found many opportunities to partner on matters of social, cultural, environmental and economic importance.”

– Jeff Zweig, President and CEO of TimberWest.

We have worked actively over many decades to build collaborative, respectful working relationships with more than two dozen First Nations, and continually work to deepen and strengthen these connections. These mutually beneficial partnerships are built around cultural, environmental, educational and economic values, and recognize First Nations’ traditional knowledge in resource management. Components of these collaborations include timber harvesting, silviculture contracts, land transactions, a log marketing program, and scholarships to attend forestry, or other programs, at Vancouver Island University. TimberWest is a member of the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business.

We work with First Nation communities, woodlot owners, community forests and private landowners to get their logs to market and secure the best financial return they deserve for their logs. If you are interested in working with TimberWest please contact us at LogPurchase@TimberWest.com.
