Our First Nations partners

At TimberWest, we are committed to recognizing and respecting the rights of Indigenous Peoples. Our goal is to be considered a respectful, trustworthy neighbour and to foster business relationships with First Nations where opportunities exist and align with TimberWest’s values and operational capabilities in British Columbia.

“We highly respect and value our relationships with First Nations across Vancouver Island and the BC Coast. Working together, we have found many opportunities to partner on matters of social, cultural, environmental and economic importance.”

– Jeff Zweig, President and CEO of TimberWest.

We have worked actively over many decades to build collaborative, respectful working relationships with many First Nation groups, and continually work to deepen and strengthen these connections.

To demonstrate our commitment, we undertook the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) certification process and are pleased to have been awarded Bronze level in our first year.

The PAR certification crystallizes our commitment to pursuing highly constructive partnerships with First Nation communities. The PAR framework is consistent with our objective to achieve meaningful, enduring collaboration that facilitates First Nation cultural, environmental and economic participation in TimberWest activities. We hold ourselves to account through periodic third-party PAR audits.

PAR is measured against the following four Key Drivers:
· Leadership Actions,
· Employment,
· Business Development, and
· Community Relationships.
