April 24, 2018 – Nanaimo: The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN), TimberWest and the Nanaimo Mountain Bike Club (NMBC) are hosting a community Open House and Earth Day Clean-Up event at the Doumont Trails on Sunday, April 29.

The RDN and NMBC have an Access Agreement in place with TimberWest for the Doumont Trails area, allowing for the RDN Biosolids Management Program, and safe, legal recreational access for NMBC members. This partnership is unique and one we want the community to know more about.

The Open House will feature:

  • An RDN station on the Biosolids Management Program, and responsible waste disposal.
  • A NMBC station on membership opportunities, and sign-up for workshops on trail building.
  • A TimberWest station on sustainable forest management, and responsible access opportunities in working forests.

Earth Day Clean-Up:

  • Community volunteers will help clean-up the Doumont Trails from 10am to 1:30pm.
  • Every hour of commitment receives one raffle ticket, for a chance at 4 raffle tickets for our prize draw.
  • $1,000 in prizes will be raffled at 1:30 pm.
  • Refreshments will be provided.

Date: Sunday, April 29
Time: 10am to 2pm
Prizes: Awarded at 1:30pm
