The report released today by the Forest Practices Board affirms that TimberWest continues to operate above legal requirements and makes recommendations relating to the implementation of the ‘spirit and intent’ of Ecosystem-Based management. As the Forest Practices Board acknowledges, assessing spirit and intent is a subjective exercise. Ecosystem-Based management is a complex undertaking of balancing human well-being and ecological integrity. At TimberWest, we strive to continuously improve – and the report acknowledges that we’ve made adjustments that are more consistent with expectations. We are reviewing the Forest Practices Board report and will take into account the recommendations in our planning. We look forward to continuing to engage with the residents of Sonora Island, First Nations and other stakeholders.
